Rory McIlroy delivered a career-defining performance at the PGA Championship, winning by six strokes and setting a new tournament scoring record of 20-under par. The Northern Irishman's victory marks his first major championship win in nearly a decade.
McIlroy's final round 65 included an eagle on the par-5 15th hole, effectively sealing his victory. His driving distance and accuracy were on full display throughout the week, with the 34-year-old averaging over 320 yards off the tee.
"This is what I've been working towards for so long," McIlroy said, holding the Wanamaker Trophy. "To win a major again, especially in this fashion, means everything to me."
The victory propels McIlroy back into the top 3 of the Official World Golf Ranking and establishes him as a favorite heading into the remaining major championships of the season.
